How Low Did Those Temps, Wind Chills Go in Crystal Lake, Cary?

The National Weather Service released data on low temperatures and wind chill reading from the past day throughout Chicagoland.

 

It has been frigidly cold out — but just how low did temperatures and wind chill values dip over the past day? 

As of 7 a.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service released information on low temps throughout the area with Mundelein coming in with the most frigid temperatures, reaching 7 degrees below zero over a 24-hour period, according to the NWS Chicago.

The lowest wind chills from Monday night into Tuesday morning were recorded in Chicago and Harvard, which both reached 24 degrees below zero, according to unofficial data from the NWS. 

Crystal Lake recorded a wind chill of 20 degrees below zero while Algonquin reached 15 degrees below zero, according to the NWS.

The next big question — how long will this cold weather last? 

Tuesday will be another frigidly cold day with a high of 7 degrees predicted in Crystal Lake, according to the National Weather Service. Wind chill values could dip as low as 13 below zero degrees this afternoon.

The first time temperatures are expected to pull above freezing is on Monday when a high of 37 degrees is forecasted for Crystal Lake, according to the NWS.

  • Barrington: -5
  • Elizabeth: -5
  • McHenry: -5
  • Waukegan Airport: -5
  • DeKalb NIU: -4
  • Freeport: -4
