Why go: Take the family out for a Movie in the Park and a Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Eating Contest. The contest begins at 7 p.m., with a screening of the movie Yogi Bear to start afterwards. Anyone wishing to enter the yummy contest can pre-register at the on Route 14.

Why go: All are welcome to come celebrate the anniversary of Petfinder.com with On Angels’ Wings Pet Rescue, 5186 Northwest Highway in Crystal Lake. The group will be holding reduced-fee services for dogs including washes, nail clipping and vaccinations. The event will also have dog trainers, behaviorists and nutritionists on hand to answer questions, an agility and obedience demonstration, kid’s games and raffles and, of course, adoptable dogs and cats ready to meet your family. Why go: Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center holds an activity-filled day for their 3rd Annual Family Health Fest. There are plenty of parent and kid friendly events, including: a teddy bear clinic, play operation with an MCO surgeon, free healthy lunch, fitness challenge, obstacle course, Player’s Choice Academy pitching booth, a visit from an Emergency Services Vehicle and Kane County Cougars mascot “Ozzie” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., plus a free backpack for every family attending.
