Tons of family friendly events happening at local parks this weekend, including a kid's concert, an interactive art festival and a movie screening.

Where/When: , 600 Harvest Gate, Lake in the Hills. Friday, July 15 at 11 a.m.

Why go: Musical group Little Nashville will entertain kids and families with their high-energy performance. Children will love singing and dancing along to the group’s infectious lyrics and country music beat.

Where/When: , Main Beach Band Shell, 300 Lakeshore Drive, Crystal Lake. Friday, July 15 – ice cream contest begins at 7 p.m., movie screening starts at 8 p.m.        

Why go: Take the family out for a Movie in the Park and a Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Eating Contest. The contest begins at 7 p.m., with a screening of the movie Yogi Bear to start afterwards. Anyone wishing to enter the yummy contest can pre-register at the on Route 14.

Pricing: Free.

 



Where/When: , 1320 S. Main St., Algonquin. Friday, July 15 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.   

Why go: Enjoy a Friday evening of live music at The Riverview. Scott E. Jensen, who specializes in popular hits of the 70s, 80s and 90s, will perform.

Pricing: Free admission.

Where/When: , 5186 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake. Saturday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.       

Why go: All are welcome to come celebrate the anniversary of Petfinder.com with On Angels’ Wings Pet Rescue, 5186 Northwest Highway in Crystal Lake. The group will be holding reduced-fee services for dogs including washes, nail clipping and vaccinations. The event will also have dog trainers, behaviorists and nutritionists on hand to answer questions, an agility and obedience demonstration, kid’s games and raffles and, of course, adoptable dogs and cats ready to meet your family. Where/When: , 10450 Algonquin Road, Huntley. Saturday, July 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

Why go: Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center holds an activity-filled day for their 3rd Annual Family Health Fest. There are plenty of parent and kid friendly events, including: a teddy bear clinic, play operation with an MCO surgeon, free healthy lunch, fitness challenge, obstacle course, Player’s Choice Academy pitching booth, a visit from an Emergency Services Vehicle and Kane County Cougars mascot “Ozzie” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., plus a free backpack for every family attending.

Pricing: Free admission, most events are free but some events have a fee.

Where/When: Community Park, 8 Bridges Drive, South Barrington. Sunday, July 17 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: The South Barrington Park District holds an interactive, kid-friendly art festival at Community Park. Children and families will love exploring the different art tents full of supplies to help inspire their creativity.
