Get Out: Be a Cowboy, Check Out an Art Exibit

Feeling uncultured? Check out a variety of art and charity benefit events held in the area this weekend.

Where/When: Lakeside Legacy Arts Park – Dole Mansion Gallery, 401 Country Club Rd, Crystal Lake. Friday, March 4, from 5 to 9 pm.

Why go: The resident artists of Lakeside Legacy Arts Park will provide live demonstrations and display their work for a public viewing. Live music, wine and snacks round out the evening.

Where/When: , 19351 W Washington St, Grayslake. Open Monday – Thursday from 8 am to 9 pm, Friday from 8 am to 4:30pm, Saturday from 9 am to 4:30 pm, and Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm until April 19.

Why go: 37 ceramic artists from around the country show off their skills through a teapot – yes, a teapot. Each creation is a representation of the artist and their contemporary spin on ceramics.

Where/When: , 800 S Il Route 31, Crystal Lake. Saturday, March 5, from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Why go: Wrangle up some friends and head on down to this annual Western Charity Auction benefit. Tickets include dinner, the auction and a cash raffle drawing, plus 100% of the net proceeds are donated to area charities.

Where/When: Brae Loch Golf Course Clubhouse, 33600 N US Highway 45, Grayslake. Friday, March 4, from 3 pm to 7 pm and Saturday, March 5, from 10 am to 3 pm.

Why go: Need another person for your fore-some? Get ready for golf season with free 5-minute tune-ups, putting practice and social time with other golf enthusiasts.

Where/When: Soldier Field United Club, 1410 S Museum Campus, Chicago. Sunday, March 6 at 11 am.

Why go: Miss football? Spend a Sunday with Chicago Bear’s Head Coach Lovie Smith and his wife at the 7th Annual Care to Cure Brunch to benefit the American Diabetes Association. No on-field action, but there will be food, music, a silent auction and a raffle.
