Crystal Lake Public Library Holds Epic Celebration

The Crystal Lake Public Library's Epic Celebration drew patrons of all ages on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The afternoon event, honoring the library's 100th anniversary, gave library users and participants of the reading program a chance to redeem tickets they earned all summer by logging the number of minutes they've read.

Some of the activities included a giant inflatable rock climbing wall and face painting. There were guest appearances and performances by the Crystal Lake Strikers, Miss Crystal Lake, Little Miss Crystal Lake, cheerleaders from the city's three high schools, and many area businesses, organizations, city leaders and volunteers.

NBC Chicago news anchor Rob Elgas, who grew up in Crystal Lake, was an honorary guest at the celebration.
