I need to preface this by telling you, readers, that the forecast for the first couple of days this week is no April Fools' Day joke.

Yes, there is indeed a forecast high of 38 degrees both Monday and Tuesday—and forecast lows around 22 degrees both nights, according to the National Weather Service.

Just where is spring, you ask?

It'll be back on Wednesday, with sunny skies and a high around 47.

The skies are expected to be mostly sunny Thursday and Friday, too, with highs of 54 and 47, respectively, according to the National Weather Service.

There's a slight chance of showers Saturday and Sunday, with forecast highs of 49 and 52, respectively.

The National Weather Service in Chicago shared April climate statistics for Chicago and Rockford on its website. The average high in April in Chicago is 59 degrees, while the average temperature is 48.9 degrees. April also sees an average of 3.38 inches of rain and an average of 1.2 inches of snow.
