Chilly Spring Weather Explained

Tom Skilling explains the reason behind the March cold snap in Chicagoland.

The official high temperature in Chicago on the first day of Spring was 23 degrees below normal, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Meteorologist Tom Skilling said the unseasonable temperatures are due to the Greenland block, which is a warm block of air from Russia to Canada. The Greenland block is pushing the colder arctic air our way. The newspaper said the issue will impact our weather through early April.

Friday’s high temperature in Cary and Crystal Lake is 36 degrees, according to accuweather.com. It will remain in the high 30s through the weekend with sunny skies.
