Cary Park District Fall Classes Begin in September

As summer come to an end, the Cary Park District has many events and classes for all ages.

The has a class for everyone in the family.

Sewing 101

Learn to sew on a sewing machine. Bring your old clothes, jeans, shirts, and more as we use our imagination to create beautiful pillows, purses, belts, headbands, and other fun accessories.

This class is for children ages 12 years and older and meets on Wednesdays, Sept. 7 through Sept. 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 pm at the Community Center.

Registration is $39 (n/r $58).

 

A Taste of Yoga – Intro to Kundalini Yoga

Incorporate yoga exercises, breathing, chanting, meditation, and hand positions to increase flexibility and strength, plus feel more relaxed and peaceful.

This one day class is for adults and meets on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 pm at the Community Center.

Registration is $12.

 

A Taste of Yoga – Yoga for Weight Loss

Use breath work, meditation, and yoga poses to reduce stress, become more flexible, and calm the mind.

This class is for adults and meets on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Community Center.

Registration is $12.

 

Beginning Line Dance

Never sit on the sidelines again! Become more confident on the dance floor by learning beginner level line dances like the Electric Slide, Cotton Eye Joe, Boot Scootin’ Boogie and others.

This class is for adults and meets on Tuesdays, Sept. 6 through Sept. 27 from 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Community Center.

Registration is $20 (n/r $30).

 

Women’s Personal Protection Class

Learn to protect yourself using self-defense grabs, strikes, or attacks in any situation. Plus learn public safety tips.

This one day class meets on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 pm at the Community Center.

Registration is FREE for residents and $31 for all other residents.

 

Mighty Kickers

Introduce your child to the sport of soccer.

Children will run, kick, and learn the game while releasing energy, making friends, and moving around. Players will be placed on a team prior to the first practice.

Every child will receive a T-shirt and must bring shin guards. This class is for children ages 3 – 5 years and meets on Saturdays, Sept. 17 through Oct. 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 am at the Lions Park Soccer Fields.

Registration is $45 (n/r $68).

 

Homework Club

Need some extra help with that homework assignment or help studying for an upcoming test?

A patient, professional and certified teacher will work with your child in a group setting to tackle those challenging assignments or provide studying techniques for upcoming quizzes or tests.

Homework Club is for children ages 6 – 14 years and meets on Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Community Center.

Registration is $10 (n/r $15).

 

Hola, Habelmos Espanol (Hello, Let’s Speak Spanish)

Learn Spanish, one of the most spoken languages in the world, through games, music, songs, and other fun activities.

This class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 27 through Oct. 6 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Community Center.

Registration is $59 (n/r $89).

 

Little Sprouts

In a small school setting, your child will have a social environment to support developmentally appropriate activities for the individual as well as the group.

This class will provide hands-on experiences such as math, art, music, manipulatives, and dramatic play to enhance your child’s independence through learning.

Choose from Mondays, Sept. 12 through October 24 or Wednesdays, Sept. 14 through Oct. 19.

Both sessions meet from 9:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Community Center.

Registration is $85 (n/r $128) per session.

 

Sticky Fingers

Enhance motor skills and make new friends while exploring art with others. A variety of wonderful art projects will be created plus learn new songs and finger plays.

Sticky Fingers is for children ages 2 – 3 years and a parent and meets Wednesdays, Sept. 14 – Oct. 19 from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Community Center.

Registration is $35 (n/r $53).
