Cary Inducted Into Environmental Hall of Fame

Cary was recognized by the Cary Environmental Hall of Fame on Tuesday night for its' continued efforts of green initiatives.

Cary Village Board was inducted into the Cary Environmental Hall of Fame for its' sustainability initiatives at the April 19 village board meeting.

The Cary Environmental Hall of Fame is an arm of the National Environmental Hall of Fame, which is "Devoted to curtailing climate change and restoring the Earth’s ecosystem by promoting green and eco-conscious living," according to their website.

The Environmental Hall of Fame gives recognition to environmentalists (corporations, companies, individuals, and organizations) who are committed to taking a stand for a green sustainable planet.

Cary has been involved programs such as the annual spring clean-up, clean air counts, tree replacement program and the Algonquin Township’s paint recycling program.

Cary was named Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Year by the Fox Valley Operator’s Association in 2010 and recognized as Tree City USA for 3 consecutive years.
