'Blues for Japan' to Benefit Japanese Victims

MCYSA to host fundraiser at Veteran Acres.

The McHenry County Youth Sports Association will host a fundraiser Thursday evening at Veteran Acres to benefit victims of the earthquakes and tsunami in Japan.

The MYCSA is presenting the event in conjunction with the 19th Annual 15U International Baseball Championships and will feature the locally renowned blues band Black Cat Bone.

"Black Cat Bone has been playing around the Crystal Lake/Northern Suburban area for the past five years and placed third in the prestigious IPRA/IAPD Illinois State Battle of the Bands in 2008," according to the MCYSA.

The event will be held on July 28 at Veteran Acres Park, 431 North Walkup Road in Crystal Lake, after the final MCYSA pre-tournament “Friendship Games” which will feature the versus local host organizations.

A $5 contribution per person is suggested with all of all proceeds being donated to the local chapter of the Red Cross.
