Algonquin Teen Charged with Sexually Assaulting CL Woman

Crystal Lake Police said the teen was an acquaintance of the woman's family.

A 16-year-old Algonquin boy was charged with sexual assaulting an 18-year-old woman in Crystal Lake, according to Crystal Lake Police.

Police said at about 11:34 a.m. Friday, May 31, they were called to a home in the 200 block of Peterson Parkway for a report of a delayed criminal sexual assault, the press release issued by Crystal Lake Police Commander Mike Brichetto stated.

The victim told police she had been sexually assaulted by the Algonquin teen, who was a family acquaintance and had been permitted access into her home.

During their investigation, police officers found the teen still in the victim's residence. The boy was taken to the Crystal Lake Police Department, 100 W. Woodstock St., for questioning, and eventually transported to the Kane County Juvenile Detention Facility.

The McHenry County State's Attorney's Office approved criminal charges against the Algonquin resident on one count of criminal sexual assault, a Class 1 felony, and one count of battery of an insulting and provoking nature, a Class A misdemeanor, police said.
