Robert Morris Graduate Students Tie for First in Global Competition

Dr. Raman Patel teaches Management 590, the capstone course in the Morris Graduate School of Management MBA program.  For a number of years, he has incorporated the GLO-BUS Competition in his class.  It is a computer based business strategy simulation modeled to reflect the real-world character of globally competitive markets.  The experience is realistic, substantive and students learn by doing exercises that require crafting and executing business decisions.
     Dr. Patel's assigned teams within the class, each with a hypothetical company.  The class started their simulation in October, competing with other colleges and universities world-wide for five weeks. One of his teams, which created "Champion Cameras" for their company, stood tied for first place worldwide by November.  There were 2876 companies from 170 colleges and universities participating at the time. Champion Cameras had a perfect score of 120 out of 120 on investor-expected target and 100 out of 100 in best-in-industry performance.  The students on the Champion Cameras team are Lindsay Dahl of Crystal Lake, Ashley Jackson of Matteson and Latosha Turner of Chicago.  The Robert Morris University Board of Trustees recently recognized Dr. Patel and his students for this outstanding performance at a Proclamation Ceremony held at the RMU Athletic and Convocation Center in Arlington Heights.
