Many people don’t know that the Crystal Lake Park District is the caretaker of 41 parks and approximately 1370 acres of land. To promote the treasures in your Crystal Lake Park District parks, the Crystal Lake Park District recently kicked off the Park Quest 2014. Park Quest maps and clues several locations throughout Crystal Lake (listed below). In addition, program details are available online at http://www.crystallakeparks.org/Programs/ParkQuest.asp

Last summer, the McCarter Family of Crystal Lake decided to visit all 41 Crystal Lake Park District parks and chronicle their adventures with photos along the way. After hearing and seeing their adventure, park district staff created the Park Quest 2014 program that includes a map, clues, program instructions and a listing of prizes. This program is free to anyone wishing to participate and is a perfect for both families and individuals or even groups of friends.

 

How to start the Crystal Lake Park District Park Quest 2014

  • Pick up the Park Quest map and clues at any of the following locations:
  • Crystal Lake Park District Administrative Office, One East Crystal Lake Park District, Crystal Lake
  • Crystal Lake Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive, Crystal Lake
  • Grand Oaks Recreation Center, 1401 W. Route 176, Crystal Lake
  • The Nature Center, 330 N. Main St, Crystal Lake
  • The Racket Club, 9101 S Illinois Route 31, Algonquin, IL 60102
  • Crystal Lake Public Library, 126 W Paddock St, Crystal Lake, IL
  • Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, 427 W Virginia St, Crystal Lake, IL
  • Complete the park visits, answer the clues and redeem the map anytime between April 1-August 8, 2014.
  • The map contains 10 picture clue questions and 30 questions to be answered at the park named in the clue
  • In addition to utilizing the printed map, Park Questers may want to utilize the interactive map on the Crystal Lake Park District website: http://www.crystallakeparks.org/VW-Systems/Map/map.asp
  • For every 10 parks/facilities you visit and answer the clue correctly, you win a prize (one prize for each child in the family/group).
  • Park visits do not need to be completed in order, visit any of the locations on the list in whatever order you wish.
  • Redeem the map for prizes as you complete each level, or wait until you have completed all 4 levels and redeem at that time.
  • Bring your Park Quest map to the Crystal Lake Park District Administrative Building, One East Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake to receive your prize(s). Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm and Saturdays, 9:30 am-Noon.
  • Park Questers are encouraged to submit digital photo files of their park visits or bring in photos of their park visits for the Park Quest display at the Crystal Lake Park District Administrative Office.

    Level 1 (10 completed park visits and correct answers)

    Park Quest sunglasses for each child plus 1 grand prize raffle ticket

     

    Level 2 (20 completed park visits and correct answers)

    Park Quest ‘Chameleon Cup’ for each child plus 1 grand prize raffle ticket

     

    Level 3 (30 completed park visits and correct answers)

    Park Quest ‘whistle/light/compass keychain’ for each child plus 1 grand prize raffle ticket

     

    Level 4 (40 completed park visits and correct answers)

    Park Quest ‘Delta Dancer kite’ for each child plus 1 grand prize raffle ticket

     

    Grand Prize Drawing

    The Grand Prize is a $250 gift certificate to Lou Malnati’s in Lakewood. Treat your family, friends or your whole neighborhood to a pizza party! For every level completed, each family/group/individual with a completed map will receive one (1) raffle entry to win the Grand Prize which will be drawn at the Black Diamond Blast on the Beach on Saturday, August 9, Main Beach (300 Lakeshore Drive, Crystal Lake). Winner need not be present to win.
