Katherine Burton Makes UW-Whitewater Basketball Team

WHITEWATER, Wis. - Katherine Burton, a senior special education major from Crystal Lake, made the 2013-14 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team.

The Warhawks are six-time conference champions, and will look to add a seventh title this season.

"The season is about becoming faster and pushing the ball farther," said Keri Carollo, head coach. "Keeping the team concept that everyone is as important as the person next to you drives the players to work together and work hard."

When the players are not on the court, they give back to the community. The women's basketball team participates in Adopt A Highway, which allows them to help clean local highways.

The team also participates in Make A Difference Day, a campus-wide community service day.

"More than anything, the women are family," Carollo said. "We care about the athlete, the student and the person, developing these wonderful women as much as we can so they can one day conquer the world."
