CL Police Citizens Police Academy

The Crystal Lake Police Department is accepting applications for the upcoming Citizen Police Academy, which will start Jan. 23, and end March 27, 2014.

The class will meet on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The Citizen Police Academy is a 10-week program designed to give the participants a working knowledge of the Crystal Lake Police Department. The CPA consists of a series of classes, discussions and demonstrations of the operations and Divisions of the Crystal Lake Police Department.

The goals of the CPA are to broaden citizens’ understanding of the functions of the Crystal Lake Police Department, improve upon communication between the police department and those people it serves, and form valuable partnerships, all in a cooperative effort to improve upon the safety of the community.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age, complete the Application and Waiver of Liability located on the City of Crystal Lake Webpage at the following link: (http://www.crystallake.org/Home/ShowDocument?id=8545) and pass a criminal background check.

Preference will be given to applicants who reside or are employed within the City of Crystal Lake.  Once those applicants have been considered, anyone else is free to attend.

Applications must be received by Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, for those seeking consideration for participation. Class size is limited, and will be filled in order of applications received.

Anyone having additional questions is encouraged to contact Officer Kimberley Shipbaugh at 815-356-3683 or by e-mail at kshipbaugh@crystallake.org
