2014 Crystal Lake Night Owl Bike Ride

In collaboration with The Land Conservancy of McHenry County, the McHenry County Bicycle Advocates (MCBA) are again sponsoring a late night bicycle ride through the City of Crystal Lake on Saturday Night, August 2, 2014.  The purpose of the ride is to promote bicycling as an alternate means of transportation and exercise within the City of Crystal Lake and to benefit The Land Conservancy of McHenry County.  The idea is to have a unique, fun and healthful activity for area residents to experience the streets, landmarks and people of Crystal Lake and to further promote Crystal Lake as a bicycle friendly community. There will be a family friendly 13-mile route and a longer 24-mile “regular” route for this year’s ride.  The ride will start and end at the Crystal Lake City Hall and traverse points of interest such as the city’s Three Oaks Recreation Area, the Metra Railroad stations, the city’s namesake lake, the Dole Mansion/Lakeside Arts Legacy, MCCD Bike Trails and Veteran’s Acres Park.  The ride will start at 11:00 PM at City Hall and is limited to 500 riders.

The ride will cost $20 per rider over the age of 15 or $45 for a family of 3 or more.  Registration materials and an online registration option are available online at www.clnightowlride.org.
