Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois Awarded LEGO® Education Showcase Grant!

On April 28, Girl Scouts will build models depicting the next 100 years using LEGOs! They will host a LEGO Education Showcase Event at the organization's Centennial Event at NIU Convocation Center.

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI) will be building models depicting Girl Scouts-The Next 100 Years! on Saturday, April 28, 2012, using LEGO creativity! Starting at 11 a.m., GSNI will host a LEGO Education Showcase Event in conjunction with the organization’s Centennial Event at NIU Convocation Center in DeKalb.

The Showcase Event is a customizable building activity that sparks creativity in participants by allowing them to use their imaginations to create LEGO models around a theme. The theme for this event is Girl Scouts—The Next 100 Years! in honor of the Girl Scouts 100th anniversary.

“By hosting a LEGO Education Showcase Event, we are offering Girl Scouts and community members the opportunity to work together to explore and build what they think Girl Scouts will be doing in one hundred years,” said Pam Schnecke, Program Specialist/STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) for GSNI. “We will also encourage girls to become part of or form a LEGO Robotics Team.”
