Vito Buffalo Orchestra and High School Registration

Here's what's happening in and around Crystal Lake and Cary for Tuesday, Aug. 13.

Good Tuesday, Aug. 13, to all Crystal Lake and Cary Patch readers.

Summer is quickly slipping away. You can feel it, and see it, as the youth football teams return to area parks for evening practices. I've also seen some young soccer players kicking the ball around.

Take advantage of this beautiful end-of-summer day by attending the "Concert in the Park" at Main Beach, 300 Lake Shore Dr., Crystal Lake.

Pack a picnic dinner, blanket and chair-in-the bag and head over to Main Beach to enjoy Crystal Lake's version of Ravinia (without the drive, ticket expense and parking hassles!). With temperatures around 72 degrees and sunny skies - it should be perfect weather for taking sunset photos over the lake!

Tonight's concert features the Vito Buffalo Orchestra in the band shell. Admission is free (even to non-residents), and the music starts at 7 p.m.

Today also is the first day of on-site registration for students in Community High School District 155.

Parents can register online, www.d155.org, until Thursday, and students go in person today through Thursday to get their books, ID cards, locker numbers, gym uniforms, activity passes, parking passes, and more. Check with your school for the registration schedule: www.d155.org/cls, www.d155.org/clc, www.d155.org/pr and www.d155.org/cg.

Have a great one!
