Looking for a positive, upbeat and safe place for your tween to hang out?
If so, bring your 10 to 14-year-old to The Hip Hop Explosion from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 15th or on Friday, April 19th, at the Lakeside Legacy-Dole Mansion,401 Country Club Road, for an evening of dance.
Dubbed “Ignite the Night and Have Some Fun,” this night features a two-hour hip hop program where tweens can learn and practice a new dance routine. The event runs three consecutive months, and choreography instruction will continue on Fridays, March 15 and April 19th.
The Hip Hop Explosion is put together with a partnership with Lakeside Legacy, Harper College Pom and Dance Team, Berkshire Ballet Theatre, Fast Forward Marketing and From-Me-2-You Photography.
This pilot program aims to promote contemporary dance to engage the Crystal Lake community and allow kids ages 10-14 an opportunity to participate in a fun and safe event, according to organizers.
“This is a great event where professional dancers will teach kids cool hip hop moves in a safe and fun atmosphere,” said spokesperson Vanessa Baker, of Fast Forward Marketing.
Choreography will be led by Victoria Summers, owner of Summers Academy of Dance in Crystal Lake, and members of the Harper College Dance Team. Buffalo Wild Wings is providing food, and guests can purchase Jamba Juice smoothies.
Big Brothers and Big Sisters have been invited to bring their “Littles” to the venue to have fun and socialize with peers, and allow the “Bigs” an opportunity to exchange ideas in a casual community oriented venue.
Admission is $6.
