If you haven't shopped at your local Jewel-Osco grocery store in a while, be prepared for a new customer service initiative that you may, or may not, appreciate. It's called the "cart-to-car" service, according to couponsinthenews.com, and whether you want the help or not, your bagger is expected to follow you and your cart out to your vehicle. The service is mandatory, though Jewel-Osco denies it has anyting to do with keeping track of shopping carts, according to Coupons in the News. "We understand that this is a very different service and it might take our customers some time to understand that we want this to be the norm," said a Jewel customer service representative in the article. Lake in the Hills Street Market Quietly Closes

Operator cites a lack of interest led to closure.

Lake in the Hills Street Market is not opening this season due to a lack of interest, an organizer said. “We are not doing it this year,” said Tony Sarillo, of Sarillo Development in Crystal Lake. “It just didn’t have the turn out we hoped.” Sarillo approached the LITH board in 2011 to open the street market, 8601 S. Route 31, on a piece of property owned by developer Ray Plote. There was some opposition from a neighboring business owner who felt it would be “an eyesore.” However, the village board approved a temporary use permit for two years. Sears Holding Corp. is seeking tenants to share Route 14 building space.

  Sears Holding Corp. is actively seeking tenants to share the 103,867-square- foot Crystal Lake building at 105 Route 14, the Northwest Herald reports. The local Sears store is not closing, merely exercising its standard practice of pursuing subtenants, out-parcel development and alternative uses, the story states. Mid-America Real Estate Corp. has listed for lease Sears locations in Crystal Lake, Bloomindale and six suburban Kmart stores, the Herald reports.

'Run as One' Draws 275 Runners

Running Depot in downtown Crystal Lake hosting run/ walk in a tribute to Boston.

Area runners and walkers turned out in full force on Monday to pay tribute to those impacted by the Boston tragedy. An estimated 275 people participated in the "Run as One," three mile run/ walk  according to the Running Depot. The Running Depot organized "Run as One," which started near the depot store at 30-H Williams St. in downtown Crystal Lake. Participants were encouraged to wear the blue and yellow Boston colors.
