Crystal Lake Rowing Club hosted the Greater Chicago Junior Rowing Championships.
The Crystal Lake Rowing Club hosted the Greater Chicago Junior Rowing Championships Saturday. The regatta's purpose is to hold a Chicagoland championship that leads up to the Midwest Junior Rowing Championships and Midwest Scholastic Championships, however out of state programs are welcome as well.
Saturday's SleepOut event will raise funds, awareness for the homeless.
With the McHenry County PADS bringing the third annual SleepOut for Shelter to Crystal Lake this Saturday, we felt that another look at the video of a local homeless man, Steve, was warranted. The video, captured by Robin Pendergrast, shows a brief but strong look at decisions the homeless have to make every day. SleepOut for Shelter will take place this Saturday, May 12, at Immanuel Lutheran School in Crystal Lake. Event participants will spend the night outside in tents, boxes or cars to raise awareness and money. Through the collection of pledges for spending one night outside the comfort of their home, participants will help homeless individuals in their search for shelter and a new beginning. Hundreds of runners and walkers filled downtown Sunday to participate in the 15th Annual Bob Blazier Run For The Arts. The 5k event took place at Raue Center For The Arts.

Yes the cartoonist reads the comments and I appreciate all of yours. I cut Quinn some slack because for years he was a prominent advocate for consumes rights before finally scoring an elected position. As for the Blago hair, I took a bit of artistic license there keeping him in Elvis-Black. I also saw the news story about his brown-hair prison look. The ringing of bells will form into music as Jubilate, the adult handbell choir at First Congregational Church, takes the stage Sunday at their 5th Annual Handbell Concert. Under the direction of FCC Bellmaster Toni Gambini, the choir's performance includes "Jubilation Fanfare" composed by Sandra Eithun; "Compassion" by Jason Krug; and "Velocity" composed by H. Dean Wagner. "Allegro" as well as "Largo" from Concerto in D Minor by Bach features performances by violinists Sara Prather and Robin Restrepo. The WSREP opens their latest production this weekend.
After smashing through the door with Rocky Horror, the Raue Center's William Street REP crew is continuing its command on first-rate local theater with Run to the Capulets, Raise Up The Montagues. The Raue describes the production as Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet remixed. "This unique interactive theatre production revolves around the untimely deaths of star-crossed lovers Romeo & Juliet and the investigation that follows," the Raue Web site explains. Videos were submitted from the public to add to parts of the production. This performance promises to be unique and enjoyable. For tickets and more information, click here.

Huh? this is the least publicized, the least important and maybe eventually the least memorable Crosstown Classic series in history. Tickets for Friday's game were going for as low as $14 on Stubhub. There have been years where you couldn't get a brokered ticket for less than $100. This is not a battle or a fight.. it's a skirmish between local militias who don't have weapons.   more ›
