Whitaker Earns Salutatorian Honor at Cary-Grove High School
Senior plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
Cary-Grove High School has announced the salutatorian for the Class of 2012.
Senior Alex Whitaker earned the title of salutatorian after earning a 4.639 grade-point average during his four years at Cary-Grove, 2208 Three Oaks Rd. in Cary.
Whitaker, who spoke before his 433 classmates on Saturday during the school’s commencement program, plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall, said Jeff Puma, director of communications for Community High School District 155.
The district has four high schools serving its communities.
On Saturday, 1,715 students graduated from District 155, Puma said.
