The Cottage Is Planning Beatles Blast 2012

The Cottage will ask the Crystal Lake City Council for permission to host Beatles Blast Saturday, June 16.

The Cottage Tuesday will ask the Crystal Lake City Council for permission to host Beatles Blast Saturday, June 16.

The downtown event would be held near 6 E. Crystal Lake Avenue and would include a Beatles Acoustic competition, a dance competition, Beatles trivia quiz and a memorabilia display.

If approved, this would be the third year for Beatles Blast. The event would be held inside , outside on a deck area and in a parking lot to the north, city documents state. The event would run from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Crystal Lake city staff have recommended approval of the event, with several conditions. For example, use of the downtown street lighting system for electrical power would be prohibited and no alcohol would be allowed outside of the fenced in area.

The Cottage also would be required to have two Crystal Lake police officers at the event. The fenced area along Grant Street would have to not block the public sidewalk, city documents state.

The event is being planned in conjunction with the Lions Club. The Cottage is requesting permits for the event and the Lions Club is requesting a temporary liquor license to serve beer and wine beyond The Cottage's patio area.

The City Council is expected to consider the requests at its Tuesday, May 15 meeting at 7:30 p.m. in , 100 W. Woodstock St.
