Social Worker from Algonquin Charged with Battery Against Student
The Lake County Sheriff's Office has reported that a social worker at Cyd Lash Academy in unincorporated Grayslake was arrested Oct. 30 and is charged with battery against a student.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office arrested John Gulino, 60, of the 1700 block of Riverwood Drive in Algonquin, for battery against a 19-year-old student of Cyd Lash Academy in unincorporated Grayslake.
Gulino was charged with three counts of battery—all class A misdemeanors, according to a sheriff's office press release. He is free on $1,000 bond pending his next court date.
A student from Cyd Lash, which is a part of the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL), reported that Gulino rubbed her shoulders, grabbed and squeezed her hip and rubbed his privates against her body. Gulino’s actions were done in a classroom during the school day, according to the sheriff's press release.
Cyd Lash Administration immediately notified the Lake County Sheriff’s Office upon learning of the allegations from the student on Oct. 18, according to a sheriff's press release.
Gulino was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the sheriff's office.
SEDOL is a cooperative educational system that works with 35 local school districts to serve physically, mentally, and emotionally challenged students.
