The kids are heading out the door for trick-or-treating.

Before they do, refer to a Crystal Lake Police Department resource for information on where the city's 21 registered sex offenders are living.

Crystal Lake Police Chief David Linder last year implemented OffenderWatch to manage registered sex offenders in the community. 

OffenderWatch enables Illinois law enforcement agencies to collaborate and share information with law enforcement partners statewide, police said.

It also is a great resource for parents to identify houses they may wish their children avoid while trick-or-treating. Residents living in Cary, Lakewood, and Fox River Grove can use the site, as well, or refer to the Illinois State registered sex offender reference page.

The page is accessable 24 hours a day, seven days per week, according to Crystal Lake Police.
