Pingree Road Improvements Ahead of Schedule
Good spring weather has project three weeks ahead of schedule.
Road construction work is ahead of schedule for the Pingree Road Improvement Project at Congress Parkway in Crystal Lake.
The $1.5 million worth of improvements, funded by a federal grant and Metra, will add dual left turn lanes, two lanes in each direction, an eight-foot-wide sidewalk along Pingree Road and upgraded traffic signals.
“The project is three weeks ahead of schedule because of the weather we’ve been having,” said Assistant City Engingeer Abby Wilgreen said.
Workers also will level the slope of incline on Pingree near the Metra railroad tracks, Wilgreen said, which is why the Pingree was closed in both directions to complete the work. Closing the road will allow workers to fix the grade faster, she said.
The intersection of Pingree Road and Congress Parkway should re-open by the end of August.
The section of Pingree Road from the Metra tracks north will remain closed until the end of September, Wilgreen said.
