Why do you belong at the library?

That's the question the Crystal Lake Public Library was asking their patrons in recognition of National Library Week.

The bulletin boards in the library are filled with responses, ranging from kids saying they loved their library instructor to heart-felt essays about how the library has changed their life.

The 50-word essay contest's big winner was 16-year-old Ellis Kalomiris, who “loves taking things apart and putting them back together,” according to the library.

“The Library is a place where all ideas are thrown into a blender and come out as one solid piece.  It’s hard to explain, but it’s nice,” Ellis said.

Too bad that since we live in unincorporated crystal lake, my son and i can't use the library without paying an enormous annual fee. There are no libraries for unincorporated residents. Thank goodness for the internet and garage sale books.

Ask the city to incorporate you, then your property tax bill will be even higher to accommodate the Library service.

@Diane Waa Waa Waa The Governement just wants to take all my money! I don't need no Stinking services! Don't need no Libraries, no roads, bridges or sidewalks. Don't need no stinking community at all. Just give me my Teaparty and and internet so I can complain insessantly about the government stealing all my money.
