Northern Illinois Food Bank to Be Featured on 'CBS Sunday Morning'

The Northern Illinois Food Bank will be part of a food segment on CBS, and CEO Pete Schaefer and driver Tim Whilling will be featured on the Sunday, Nov. 18 show.

CBS’s Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood takes a look at food waste in America and how Northern Illinois Food Bank and Jewel-Osco’s Food Recovery efforts are putting fresh, nutritious food on the tables of our hungry neighbors while decreasing what ends up in a landfill.

Watch for NIFB's very own CEO Pete Schaefer and driver Tim Whilling! NIFB's network partner, Loaves & Fishes Community Pantry and JEWEL-OSCO's Produce Manager Miguel will be featured, as well.

The story is scheduled to run sometime during this weekend's show, which runs from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18

If anything changes NIFB will post updates on Facebook. NIFB is based in Geneva.

I am all for decreasing what ends up in landfill however I don't give to ANY food banks any longer because the food is not going to the people who really need it. Instead it goes to people driving Escaldes and brand new Chevy trucks and who are most likely illegals.
I make sure my money goes to help the elderly, children, animals ot veterans not criminals who break our laws, ignore our culture and our society and live in ways I find immoral and unacceptable.

I'm so sorry Cynthia feels this way. I volunteer at a local food bank and I can attest that it goes to people in need. Why should I care what they drive or where they're from? Why should we pick and choose who we help? The important thing is that we help WHO we can, WHEN we can.
