Bill Prim, a Republican candidate for McHenry County Sheriff, on Friday announced that Republican Newt Gringrich and his wife, Callista, will headline a fundraiser dinner for Prim on Feb. 18, at Bull Valley Country Club in Woodstock, according to the McHenry County Blog.

Prim, a former Des Plaines Police commander, already is preparing for the March 2014 Republican primary election. Gingrich, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, will discuss current political issues at the fundraiser, the McHenry County Blog reports.

A longtime Cary resident, Prim recently retired from the Des Plaines Police Department after a 27-year career. More information about Prim can be found on the Prim for Sheriff webpage.
