McHenry Woman Charged With Identity Theft

Alleged offender obtained two lines of credit in victim’s name and charged $10,000 to victim’s account.

 

A four-month investigation led to the arrest of a McHenry woman on charges of identity theft, forgery and unlawful possession of credit cards.

McHenry County Sheriff’s police arrested Tammy Teresi-Kamrat, 50, 1950 Orleans St. #B, McHenry, on Aug. 23 for alleged fraudulent activity, according to a news release from Sheriff Keith Nygren.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office spoke with a victim of identity theft in early May. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Teresei-Kamrat fraudulently obtained two lines of credit in the victim’s name. She charged approximately $10,000 to the victim’s account without the victim’s knowledge or consent, according to the news release.

Teresi-Kamrat used the victim’s personal identification to obtain lines of credit and forged the victim’s name. She was charged with two counts of identity theft, a Class 2 felony; two counts of forgery, a Class 3 felony; and unlawful possession of a credit card, a Class A misdemeanor.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the case
