McHenry County Homeless Count Being Conducted
Agency conducting survey this week.
The McHenry County Continuum of Care for the Homeless Committee is conducting its annual count of homeless individuals and families from today, Wednesday, Jan. 23, to tomorrow.
The committee consists of representatives from agencies, organizations and businesses that work together to fight homelessness in McHenry County.
The “point-in-time” survey has been carried out the last ten days in January for the past nine years.
Last year, the 2012 count found a total of 210 homeless people in McHenry County.
The 2013 McHenry County homeless count will be gathered through surveys at shelter sites, as well as through information provided at other locations where homeless people may access supportive services, or just have a place to stay out of the elements.
Copies of the shelter survey and a description of the McHenry County Continuum of Care Committee can be downloaded at www.pioneercenter.org.
Additional information can also be provided for food pantries, outreach programs, churches, police departments and other agencies, organizations or volunteer groups that would like to participate in the Continuum of Care.
