A woman wearing an orange jersey and carrying a knife robbed Cody's Farm Fresh Stand on Thursday afternoon in broad daylight along Route 14.

Crystal Lake Police Sgt. Steve Renje said in a press release an unidentified white woman approached the farmstand at about 4:14 p.m. Thursday, and displayed a knife in a threatening manner toward the employee working the stand, located in an empty lot once occupied by McDonald's Restaurant.

The victim, only 20 years old, gave the woman an undisclosed amount of cash. The woman, who police described as approximately 5'9" tall and weighing about 170 pounds, took the money and fled on foot.

Cody's Farm Fresh Stand is a temporary business located at 140 S. Route 14, Crystal Lake, next to The Freeze. The Marengo-based farm business sells fresh corn, zucchini, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables.

Police said in a press release that a "person of interest" is being questioned and criminal charges are expected to follow. 

"Crystal Lake Police continue to investigate this matter and are confident no related public threat remains at this time," Sgt. Renje said in the press release.
