Huntley Man Killed in Early Morning Apartment Fire
Allen R. Jacobs, 47, was killed in the fire at Woodcreek Apartments in Huntley.
Huntley resident Allen R. Jacobs, 47, was killed this morning in a two-alarm fire at the Woodcreek Apartments complex in Huntley, the Northwest Herald reports.
Twelve other residents have also been left without a home because of the fire, which started at about 6:15 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 3. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a first-floor unit, which soon spread to two other units, the Herald reports.
Huntley Fire Protection District was assisted by 15 area firefighting agencies. One Huntley fire suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released. The fire is under investigation, but no foul play is suspected, the Herald reports.
Woodcreek Apartments are located east of Route 47, north of Kreutzer Road.

A very sad day today. A friend of my wife (and the friend's daughter) are temporarily homeless due to this apartment fire this morning at their neighbor's across the hallway (and the severly disabled man we donated a "body lift" a few weeks back... died in the fire... he lived next door to her where the fire started). A total of 6 families are displaced, but a person who could not care for himself without help is now with our lord. We pray that they find peace and the help they need (and our sincere condolences to the victim and his family). So very sad....

So so sad...Al was a great guy, always smiling and upbeat. I also live in the Woodcreek Apts and am handicapped. I am going to miss those times that we would "ride" around the complex together and share our disability issues. My prayers are with his family and friends. They have my deepest sympathy

Jeri, we know Al's neighbor across the hall (Sue). My wife's father is the one who provided the "lift" for him to use a couple of weeks ago. We heard he was so happy to have gotten this gift and are mortified by the news he passed due to the fire. It is good to know he is remembered by his fellow neighbors / friends.
