HHS Teacher Charged in Theft at School

Huntley police release details of Huntley High School teacher's arrest.

Consolidated School District 158 officials could not comment on the arrest of a Huntley High School teacher charged with a theft at the school, but police released additional information about her Sept. 14 arrest.

Kimberlee Hoffmann, 42, of 1004 Kerim Court, Marengo, is charged with theft of lost or mislaid property in connection with a theft at the high school, 13719 Harmony Road, on Sept. 5.

Huntley Police Deputy Chief Todd Fulton said the charge of theft of mislaid or lost property is for cases where property is found and not returned to the owner.

According to Huntley police, the victim placed her iPod Touch and Motorola Atrix cell phone down while in the bathroom at the school and forgot to pick up the items when she left.

When she remembered that she forgot the items, she went back to the bathroom and the items were missing, reports stated.

During an investigation, police learned Hoffmann entered the bathroom after the victim and found the items, which she allegedly took, police said.

Detectives were able to trace the items to Hoffmann using the phone’s GPS and spoke with her on September 10 about the incident, reports stated.

Hoffmann had several days to turn in the items into the office, which she didn’t do before being confronted by police, according to reports. The items were later returned but the victim’s music and photos were deleted from the devices, police said.

Huntley police said Hoffmann is a cheerleading coach but could not comment on her current employment status with District 158. District 158 officials would only confirm she is an employee.

However, Huntley High School’s website indicates Hoffman is a Special Education teacher. She started teaching at District 158 in 1999. Hoffman graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1992 with a degree in Special Education. She also earned a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education, according to the site.

Hoffmann has an October McHenry County court date.

This is an unbelievable story...13 years "teaching" our kids? I feel very sorry for the embarrassment she has brought to her family, but she should never be allowed to set foot in any school again.
Heres a lady that spent a number of years not only teaching but coaching our kids, we have trusted her to be a role model a care taker and teacher, how does this happen and how long has she been stealing for our kids?
I'm sure we will hear this was the first time....I think not.
Personally, I think there should be an offenders list for many professions that require the publics trust, much like a sex offenders list. If you work in profession that is inherently trusted by the public at large and are convicted of a crime against said public, it should be posted to a federal offenders list, so they can't just cross state lines re-certify and keep working. We see with teachers, nurse's, Dr's, Policemen, Attorneys, Social Workers, something has to be done to keep the bad apples out and bring good ones in.

Lol...really a mean bad apple? She doesn't return or turn it in to lost and found...the phone gps is traced to her and the music and pictures on the IPod have been replaced! I can't wait to hear her story...And I hope the police report is wrong...it doesn't change the fact that the public needs to be protected from these predators that prey on those looking for help. Increased background check and a updated list of convicted social workers.
I am not mean or a bad apple...call me a realist at worst.

Rob - you are an idiot. You actually piss me off...As a former student of Huntley within the time period you seem to scoff, Kids lose alot of things. Whether their ignorant parents load them up with iPads, iPods and more shit they cant keep track of is not the teachers responsibility. When off duty, its not their job or resposibility to report it either. I am not saying yay for theivs, but how about a parent teach their kids that the things they buy them are valuable and to keep them protected. #DUMB PARENTS AND THEIR OBVIOUSLY IGNORANT KIDS

So now every one can just say oh it was just left behind so it is mine. She could of used the phone to call the parent of the student and tell them that they found the phone. Like any honest person would do. And as for not being the teacher responsibility it is. She was still in the school and she is still doing her job.

Hmmmm, that's nice! It's called social responsibility and respect, obviously something you haven't learned, yet. It's behavior that is expected especially from people in a position of authority. I'm guessing that is position you will never have to worry about. I would suggest you continue your education and remember your response when you have personal property stolen from you...isome people mature a little later than others, there is still hope for you.

Even if it were a student it still doesn't make what this teacher did right! Regardless!!! If it was her property or one of her children's she would have gone for the jugular!

Let's see it was taken from the bathroom on September 5th and NOT turned into the office or lost and found and she was questioned on September 10th and the item's were then returned to the victim BUT photo's and music were all deleted??? WHY IS THAT? She was then arrested on September 14th. She was up to no good and I believe she fully intended on keeping those items! What a terrible excuse for a teacher/example for the students! She should be FIRED!

mrs hoffman was a good person and everybody liked her as a teacher. things get stolen everyday from the school, so why care about this one ipod and phone? yah she is a teacher but she is also on a teachers salary and her salary has been frozen for the past four years. Im not saying she had the right to not report it but it's not that big of a crime and people are blowing up more then it should be

@jjjjjj. I don't know what values, morals and manners were instilled in you by your parents but stealing is WRONG! She should be penalized! Is this what she has instilled in her child/children as a parent? Regardless about how much money she does or does not make it doesn't justify her actions! She is an educator someone whom we trust on a daily basis to educate our children and this is what she is teaching them! Come on! She is a terrible example to our children! Oh and she is a special education teacher/coach? Ha! That is ridiculous! She shouldn't be allowed to coach or teach our children!

Also @ jjjjjj. That student or their parents had to work for the money to buy the phone and Ipod so why shouldn't the teacher work for her own? Hello... Common sense! NOTHING IS FREE IN THIS WORLD AND WE ALL HAVE TO WORK FOR WHAT WE HAVE AND WANT! Who knows she may have other items that don't belong to her in her home that she has taken from someone else. IT'S WRONG!

@Courtney why not take the time to actually read all of my. Comments before forming your opinion of me? You need a clue Courtney! First off I'm not a bi***, I am a truth teller and the truth is this teacher was wrong and should be fired! These items just didn't magically happen to appear at her home all on their own. She is a very shady individual outside of her job as she is inside! She is a very sad individual if she has to steal from a student!

@ Courtney. Got it. I hear what your saying. I'm sorry that you had to deal with this individual as a teacher. It's very sad, she is a poor excuse for a teacher! As far as her being rich, ha, ha, ha! She isn't the family member with the money it's her mama and papa who always come to the rescue! When does it end! They need to cut the umbilical cord already! Allow her to face up to what she has done as a 42 year old teacher, adult, parent and citizen! DON'T DO THE CRIME IF YOU CAN'T DO THE TIME! Just Sayin! Karma, what comes around goes around, reep what you sow!

Seriously? This is pathetic. Huntley is such a boring town that the biggest news is a stolen phone? Who cares? This is beyond ridiculous. No one should be punished this horribly for taking a phone.

This is turning into quite a commentary on our society and the education our students are receiving! Perhaps these responses should be sent to the board to see just how far our educational system has fallen. It's quite sad.

I am outraged, Ms Hoffman is a thief. 10 out of 10 people who talk about this situation including teachers from Huntley agree. Everyone is sick to there stomach that once again this woman has gotten away with criminal actividy. There is not one person that I talk with that likes Ms Hoffman or even thinks she is a nice person. What really shocked me, is that coach bebee came to ms Hoffman defense, clearly when everyone knew that bebee was lieing for ms Hoffman. Ms Hoffman had a chance for five days to turn in the electronic, and every time she passed the athletic office, never doing soo, the girl who ms Hoffman deprived of the electronics confronted ms Hoffman, ms Hoffman denied having them. The Huntley police went to ms Hoffmann house cause the GPS OFF the electronics led them there, ms Hoffman still denied having possession of the electronics. It wasn't untill ms Hoffman gain council from her grandfather who told her the laws she broke, when she decided to hand in wiped out electronics and claim I forgot. You don't forget that easy, only when you want to keep someone else's property, you gave them back because you were caught! Great job Huntley police! I really hope you can sleep at night and can look at your self in a mirror everyday! Nobody cares what the courts ruled, behind your back we know you are a thief. I hope it was worth ruining your reputation sticking up for a thief BeeBee. Hoffman would have thrown you under the bus!

John8:7 Says, "And as they continue to ask him, he stood up and said to them, let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her." ...And Jesus said, neither do I condemn you; go, from now on sin no more." John 8:11
Let's hope we all get a little grace when we do wrong! Your time might be better spent saying a prayer for Mrs. Hoffman's family. We are all human, and tempted daily! The Bombings at the Boston Marathon put it all into perspective!
