Although construction on the bypass began several weeks ago, the official ground-breaking ceremony was held just last week.

A ground-breaking for the Western Bypass was held on Monday.

 

A ground-breaking ceremony for the Western Bypass was held on Sept. 17. 

Many local and state dignitaries attended the ceremony including Algonquin Village President John Schmitt; Rep. Don Manzullo, R-Illinois; Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Illinois; and state Sen. Pam Althoff, R-McHenry.  

The $33.3 million Western Bypass project is slated for completion in summer 2014.
