Football Recap
Football weekend, our favorite teams won, some lost and the BCS debate continues.
Football Friday didn't start off well. The Cary-Grove football team fell short to Crystal Lake-South, 28-14.
Since 2004, Cary Grove has finished one step ahead of South in the Fox Valley Conference. The Trojans has 41 games in a row within the conference but on Friday night that came to an end.
The Trojans face off against Dundee-Crown, which is the final game of the regular season and last game for seniors. This is a must-win game if the Trojans wants to keep playing in the post season.
Moving on to Saturday when the college athletes take the field, my beloved Michigan State Spartans took care of business against the Fighting Illini. This Big Ten matchup was a game of field goal scoring until the Spartan took off and scored a few touchdowns. The final score was 26-6.
Second week in a row, the No. 1 team lost. In another Big Ten game, the Ohio State Buckeyes lost to the Wisconsin Badgers, 31-18. The falling of a No. 1 team means one thing, more debate of the BCS standings. Where will Boise State land this week? Who will be No. 1 now? After this weekend, in the BCS standings, Oklahoma is ranked No. 1, Oregon No. 2 and Boise State is No. 3.
The debate continues, what will happen next week?
On to Sunday, the Chicago Bears fought to the very end but they couldn't edge a victory against the Seattle Seahawks.Final score was 23-20.
Even though the Bears took a tough loss, they still lead the NFC North division because the Green Bay Packers also loss a close game against the Miami Dolphins, 23-20.
