CL Police Host Citizen Police Academy
Twelve-week program starts Sept. 20, 2012.
Ever wanted to get a behind the scenes look at the law enforcement field?
The Crystal Lake Police Department is hosting the Citizens Police Academy starting on Sept. 20.
The 12-week program, designed to give participants a working knowledge of the local police department, will meet from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday nights through Dec. 13, according to a press release issued by Community Relations Officer Kimberley Shipbaugh.
The goal of the CPA is to "create a better understanding, communication and partnership between the citizens and the police department through education, in order to establish a safer community," Shipbaugh said.
Participants must be 18 years old to register for the CPA, and pass a criminal background check. Preference will be given to residents of Crystal Lake and people who work in the city.
Applications must be received by Sept. 7. Those interested in in participating should contact Officer Shipbaugh at 815-356-3683, or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
