Chowdown Showdown Ice Cream Challenge
Let us know your favorite place to get ice cream in McHenry County by commenting below!
Summer is so close we can almost taste it.
And what tastes more like summer than a delicious scoop (or two or three) of ice cream or frozen custard?
For this week's Chowdown Showdown, we are looking to area Patch readers to tell us, which area business serves up the best ice cream or frozen custard in McHenry County.
You can vote for your favorite by commenting below.
We will take comments in this article through Tuesday, May 29. Voting will stop at 5 p.m.
We will select the top finalists — the business with the most comments — and place them in our finalists' poll. That poll will post on all McHenry County Patch sites the morning of Wednesday, May 30.
With that said, let us get the voting started. Tell us, Patch readers, where is your favorite place to get ice cream or frozen custard in McHenry County?

Julie Anns and if you stretch the border a bit Vans in Carpentersville.
I swore Oberweis would never get another dime of my money when he started being the biggest political jerk in Illinois.

Julie Ann's is frozen custard, not ice cream. That being said, I prefer them over any of the other ice cream, frozen custard or frozen yogurt places in the area.

I think you have to include frozen custard and frozen yogurt in this discussion. Even "ice cream" places differ in soft serve vs. scoop. My vote also goes to Van's Frozen Custard if you can stretch the border. It's such a great mom-and-son-run shop, and I'm excited to see their new location open on 72 in Dundee later this summer. But if we have to stick to McHenry, Julie Ann's is tasty, was just there on Monday.

Does frozen yogurt count? Yumz is so good & is all natural yogurt & has all kinds of
toppings to add & you create your own size & lots of flavors to choose!
