Cary 26 Foundation Seeks Sponsors, Volunteers for 5k

This year's theme is “Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies.”

There has never been a more important time to support Cary public schools.

The 2012 Cary Shuffle 5K Run/Walk, hosted by the Cary 26 Education Foundation, is a way that community members can get involved to make a difference for Cary children.

This year’s event will take place the morning of April 14.

The family-oriented 5K Run/Walk will be held on the grounds surrounding Cary Jr. High School. In addition to the 5K event, there will be children’s races for participation across all ages.

The goals of the shuffle are to come together as a D26 community, promote an active lifestyle, and raise funds to support education in D26 schools.

Proceeds from the shuffle benefit students through grants, educational trips and other activities.

"The Cary Shuffle has become a great way for parents to encourage their kids to have a healthy lifestyle while also contributing to their educational opportunities and showing support for Cary schools," Julie Schullian is co-president of the Cary 26 Education Foundation said.

Students will have a new way to participate in 2012. This year’s t-shirt logo will be selected from entries designed by D-26 students.

A panel of judges will pick a winning design that most creatively incorporates a number of criteria, including this year’s theme “Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies”.

The contest is open to all D-26 students. Entries turned into school offices by March 9.

There are two other components that we need to make this year’s event a success- great volunteers and great sponsors.
