Boy Catches 'Monster Cat' at Three Oaks
Rod Martin and his son, Daniel, where fishing at Three Oaks Recreation Area when the boy reeled in a big one.
Rod Martin shared this impressive photograph with Crystal Lake Patch from a recent fishing trip to Three Oaks Recreation Area, 5517 Route 14, in Crystal Lake.
The father and son were enjoying their fishing outing when Daniel landed a monster 45-inch catfish.
"Daniel fought and brought in with just a little help from me," Rod said. "My boy makes me so incredibly proud with his accomplishments and being a wonderful person...and he says that I am his best friend...priceless!"

Rod, great to see fathers being a positive influence and spending time with their children, and Daniel, thinks you're just fishing! The memories will last a lifetime.
Congrats to you both, that's a BIG fish!

First of all...WTG little guy! The fish is almost as big as you. Second, WTG Dad for not only spending QUALITY time with your son, but for working to be his best friend! All too often we as parents think we have to spend money to make our kids happy. You have shown that a couple of poles and some time is all you need. I can remember times spent with my father as if it were yesterday. And the times I remember most are the ones when it was just us at our weekly "tea parties" or our walks to the park. My dad has been gone almost 10 years and I would give anything to have a cup of tea in my pink plastic tea cup with him again. First...create the memories and then...Cherish the memories! God bless you all. And to the author...thanks for brightening my day!
