Area Academy Provide Donations for Community Advocate
Cary and Crystal Lake residents attend charity event to show support.
Lee’s Martial Arts Academy in Cary, donated $9,000 to support local community advocate Kris O. Two months ago Kris suffered a major stroke.
The stroke left her unable to accomplish daily activities, and with diminished mental capacity she can no longer perform her job, she was helping students with special needs as a school bus aide.
Grand Master Chul W. Lee, is a world certified ninth degree black belt and owner of Lee’s Martial Arts Academy. He has been an advocate of the community outreach program in the Cary and Crystal Lake area, which he has overseen for the past 18 years.
“Kris was one of my first students she has studied martial arts for the 18 years that I have been in business. Kris is a loving, kind, and giving person, she would always make time to help anyone. She was one to help other students learn, and frequently gave her time to the community and organizations such as the Cary Grove food pantry.”
Grand Master Chul W. Lee along with Beth Rogaia, who has been a long time friend to Kris decided as part of the community outreach program to hold a charity event to help Kris with her medical expenses.
Kris, and her son Misa were able to attended the event along with the many Cary Grove and Crystal Lake residents who were there to help support her during this difficult time.
Beth Rogala was moved to tears “by the kindness of everyone in the community, those that were touched by Kris through her 18 years of service, and those that just wanted to help. Kris has been an inspiration and a leader to many people over the past decade and it is wonderful to see everyone honor her this way.”
The outpouring of generosity was tremendous.
Lee’s Martial Arts Academy has organized many fundraisers over the years to support organizations like N.I.S.R.A, Leukemia Research Foundations, Cary Park District, and the local elementary schools, for which the Cary-Grove community has strongly and generously supported our efforts.
Lee’s Martial Arts Academy will continue to grow our community outreach program and welcome any suggestions to better serve the people of Cary.
Currently, Lee’s Martial Arts is running a Community Appreciation Program in honor of Kris and her dedication and love of the sport. Anyone can join Tae Kwon Do, call today to see how you can take advantage of the community appreciation program.
