School supplies line shelves of local stores. Football players are back in the field gearing up for the new season. And moms, dads, teens and kids alike have eyes on the last few days of summer. 

Don't put away those flip flops just yet. There's one big end-of-summer bash remaining in Crystal Lake: "Blast on the Beach."

The "Blast on the Beach" is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 (rain date Sunday, Aug. 19), at Main Beach, 300 Lake Shore Dr., Crystal Lake.

Crystal Lake Park District officials expect this year's Blast to be a big one as the BMO Harris sponsorship allows free admission for all attendees. The "Blast on the Beach" lineup includes a water ski show, treasure hunt, fun fair, craft fair and Baggo tournament, to name a few.

Mr. Myers, a Sycamore-based Carribean-rock band, will play Reggae, Calypso, Jimmy Buffet and other beach tunes.
