CHICAGO, IL – Today, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago announced the appointment of Sean Nelson as executive director of Sage YMCA, located in Crystal Lake. A YMCA of Metro Chicago employee for 17 years, Nelson currently serves as executive director of the Foglia Family YMCA in Lake Zurich.
“A long-time employee of the organization, Sean shares our passion for and dedication to the Y of Metro Chicago’s mission to support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility throughout the Chicagoland area. Having successfully managed two of the three largest centers within the Y of Metro Chicago network, Sean excels at building relationships with members, donors and the community, while also inspiring staff and effectively and efficiently managing facilities,” said Kathy Bosco, group vice president, YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago. “We know that this dedication will continue as he takes on this new challenge.”
“I’m excited for this new challenge in my Y career and look forward to serving Sage YMCA members,” said Sean Nelson. “My father was an executive director at three YMCA’s – I practically grew up at the Y. I believe in the mission of the Y. We open doors, build character, strengthen neighborhoods and bring families together – which motivates me and is why I enjoy my job every day.”
The Y of Metro Chicago will launch a national search to find the next executive director of its Foglia center.
